12th Annual Sgt. Doreen Scrimenti Scholarship 5k Run/WalkSaturday, June 11th, 2011 9:30 AM This race is organized by good friends of the NYPD Running Club, Retired NYPD Sergeant Joe Greco and his wife Diane Greco (Scrimenti), and Richmond Rockets Running Club President Joe Busso.Doreen's Race pays tribute to NYPD Sgt. Doreen Scrimenti, who at the age of 34, was tragically killed in an automobile accident. Doreen was an avid runner, completing 3 NYC Marathons, as well as numerous races of various distances. The Sgt. Doreen Scrimenti Scholarship Fund, Inc. was established in 1999, to assist students in need of financial support for their education. Over the years they have provided over 100 families with scholarships, as well as providing support for many community organizations. By giving to others, Doreens spirit lives on, and in her memory, they are able to help others.
