The Brooklyn Marathon

Sunday, November 20th, 2016 8:30 AM

On November 20th, 2016, the 6th Annual Brooklyn Marathon will take place in Prospect Park. This race has sold out since its inception in 2011. It was named "Marathon Of The Year" in 2012 by Travlete and has attracted runners from all over the planet, including such far away destinations as Japan, Australia, and the UK.

The Brooklyn Marathon starts and ends on Center Drive in Prospect Park. The course starts by exiting Center Drive at West Drive. From there, it makes two circuits of the lower loop of the park, followed by six full loops of the park before finishing with one last lower loop before returning to Center Drive from East Drive where runners will cross the finish line.

The USATF-certified course takes place entirely in the recreational lanes - runners on the main roadway can be disqualified for leaving the course. There are two hydration stations that runners will pass 16 times. Water and Gatorade are offered at both.

Medical support is stationed at each hydration station as well as at the finish.

All pre-race an post-race activities are in an area of the park called the Nethermead, which is a few hundred feet from the start and finish.

Runners will receive a medal and a long-sleeve technical shirt at the finish.
